A New Dynamic Tool to Manage Your Digital Video Content
The Visual Learning Company has been working within education for 5 years and has produced DVD resources that are used in 1,200 Primary schools in the UK. Research with PESS Professionals [PE & School Sport], Head Teachers, Teachers and Pupils have shown that the video library contained on each DVD was particularly helpful. Teachers and pupils were able to look at the various clips as often as they required in order to fully understand the process involved – this saved teaching time and assisted in reviewing pupils’ assessment.
Therefore, the company investigated how many schools in the UK have access to any form of visual library and whether they would benefit from such a library. Conclusion was that very few schools have access to a visual library but would benefit through a system that had easy access and could be adapted to meet the schools requirements. .
Libraries play an enormous part in the education of people throughout the world but up till now there is no practical solution available to provide a visual library. People learn a great deal from the use of visual aids. With the on-going development within Information Communication Technology [ICT] more people rely on visuals to gain knowledge.
In addition, Ofsted teaching requires Assessing Pupils Progress but currently this is done without an efficient video storage and retrieval system.
Examination Boards have the same problem; they want visual proof of standards and pupil assessment.
For schools to completely deliver learning to meet Ofsted requirements and the needs of the Examination Boards they need a visual media library to demonstrate best practice and to create and store visual evidence of pupils standards.
The Visual Learning Company has produced a Media Library to provide a positive solution
The Media Library can be used across curriculum areas and provide valuable support to Teachers, Pupils and Parents. The Library stores visual images of best practice in a variety of educational settings in order to help deliver rich learning experiences. It can be used with simple recording equipment to store and maintain evidence of an individual pupil’s assessment. When rolled out nationally, it will also help deliver common standards within schools through agreed best practice media clips.
The Media Library will contain a Favourite section, Lesson Planning Tool and a Pupil File which will allow easy access to clips that will help pupils with their course work, help teachers with their lesson plans and will simplify reporting to Ofsted and Examination Boards.
